One of the principles of Yoga (Yoga Sutras) is Ahimsa, mean non-harming or non-violence ,more specifically, do not harm others or yourself. Loosely translated, it means, no killing, no torture and no abuse.
When we eat animal meat, we are contributing to the animal’s violence and harm. Practicing non-harming is essential to create a balance that will ensure we live a joyful life.
What we eat influences not only our physical well being, but also the quality of our mind and the quality of our thoughts and motivations.
To get the most benefits from yoga, it is necessary that you eat the right type of foods. Without a proper diet, your body will not be able to obtain the right balance of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins minerals and salts. Water is needed to help digestion and assimilation. Food in the form of Nourishment is finally assimilated in various forms throughout the body.
So you are free to choose whatever types of food you want to eat. There are a number of people who eat meat and do yoga regularly.
I think that it is a personal decision that everyone has to make for themselves.
If you are choose to be a vegetarian, be sure you should not impose on others your lifestyle.
